MESSAGE FROM GROUP GENERAL MANAGER HR
Dear Colleagues,
As Group General Manager of Human Resources, I have always believed that the success of our hospitality industry depends not only on service excellence, but on the strength, capability, and vision of our HR practitioners. Today, the demands on HR in hospitality have evolved significantly. We are no longer just managing people—we are shaping talent pipelines, driving organizational culture, and ensuring our workforce remains competitive on a global stage. This is exactly why the Asia Hospitality Human Resource Association (AHHRA) plays such a critical role in our industry.
AHHRA is designed with HR practitioners at its core. It provides us with the platform, tools, and opportunities to lead more effectively in a rapidly changing environment. Through HRDC-claimable programs, specialized training in HR, union management, and workforce development, as well as industry seminars and conventions, AHHRA ensures we remain relevant, informed, and future-ready. What makes AHHRA especially valuable is its ability to bridge the gap between talent development and industry needs.
From structured youth programs for students and school leavers, to sponsored initiatives for underserved communities, unemployed youths, and graduates, AHHRA helps us build a sustainable and inclusive talent pipeline for the hospitality sector. In addition, through DHS Hospitality Career Services, we are able to access placement opportunities not only within Malaysia, but also in international markets such as Dubai, Singapore, and Taiwan—enhancing our ability to develop globally competitive teams.
For those of us looking to grow further as HR leaders, AHHRA also offers up to 50% sponsorship for APEL.Q MBA programs, allowing us to strengthen our strategic capabilities while continuing to contribute meaningfully to the industry. AHHRA is more than an association—it is a strategic partner for HR practitioners who are committed to shaping the future of hospitality.
I strongly encourage you to engage, participate, and leverage the opportunities it offers as we collectively raise the standards of our industry.
